WWF Climate Roadshow

The project includes many different elements such as the website, roadshow events, a quiz, and the distribution of an eco-survival kit. The different elements aim to raise awareness of climate change and to educate people that they have a vital and urgent role to play in minimising the emission of carbon dioxide. The campaign aims to decrease electricity consumption by 0.5 to 1% for each household.

The Roadshow, the highlight of this campaign, is an outdoor public event held in major cities in the participating countries. Using a Toyota Dyna truck as the campaign vehicle, the roadshow presents a range of climate-friendly solutions for households including solar hot water systems, low emission heating systems and the Toyota Prius which uses hybrid synergy drive.

One of the most popular activities at the Roadshow is the electric bicycle. Members of the public are invited to ride the bicycle which generates electricity. The electricity supplies different tools such as a light bulb, TV or drilling machine. The rider feels the real value of electricity in their muscles!

The Survival Kit, distributed during the Roadshow, contains a range of products that can help an average home to save energy and therefore reduce CO2 emissions. The kit includes insulation tape for windows, an energy-saving light bulb, battery recharger and batteries, and a water-saving tap head.

Toyota has been involved in this project at both national and regional levels. Our support has included:
  • Staff and other materials for the Roadshow
  • Providing panels explaining our environmental approach and hybrid technology
  • Publishing information in our Customer Magazine, preparing media releases and other media communications
  • Distributing the Campaign leaflets at Toyota showrooms
  • Joint events with environmental NGOs
  • Producing additional promotional material.
