Toyota Hellas Promotes Road Safety in Greece

Toyota Hellas, together with the Greek Institute of Road Safety, RSI Panos Mylonas, has held a two-day road safety training event at the Ellinogermaniki Agogi private school. The training, held on 18 and 19 March 2009, emphasised the importance of road safety – especially for young people. While the training was primarily targeted at students, parents and teachers were also invited to participate.

TOP-25’s Alcokart and Driving Simulator were utilised during the training to provide valuable practical experiences for the trainees. The Alcokart was developed by TOP-25 to help drivers understand the effect of alcohol on driving while the Simulator helps them to develop their defensive driving skills.

RSI Panos Mylonas continued the TOP-25 events in Greece with additional training using the simulators. Events were held in Athens and Patras on 21 and 22 March. In both Athens and Patras the simulators were placed in the town squares and members of the public were invited to utilise them.

Speaking after the event at his school Dr Manos Apostolakis, the Assistant Principal of Ellinogermaniki Agogi, said: “Our goal is to equip our students not only with knowledge, but also help them develop skills that are going to be beneficial in their everyday lives in issues such as Traffic Education and Road Safety. We were particularly satisfied with the event at our school. Many students, parents and teachers had the chance to become aware of the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol and about the benefits of defensive driving. We are grateful to Toyota Europe, Toyota Hellas and RSI Panos Mylonas for sponsoring the event and giving us all an unforgettable experience.”
