Each year VLC Zeebrugge receives about 200 visitors from schools and local community groups. The latest, a visit by 80 students of a local technical and general secondary school, occurred on Friday 15 May. The group were shown around the Toyota facility by the Regional Manager of the Vehicle Logistics Group, Koen Vandersteegen.
It was the third time this school has visited the VLC. Each year the visit includes multi-disciplinary assignments on topics such as geography or economics. Last year, graphic design was covered. After the visit, students designed their own Toyota poster to express their impression of the VLC.
“I’m always surprised to see how little visitors know about what is going on behind the scenes at Toyota,” says Vandersteegen. “They are usually are aware of our product quality, but are always stunned by the quality of Toyota’s vehicle operations as well. Guiding visitors, young and not-so-young, provides an excellent opportunity for us to show how Toyota takes care of their new car. At the same time, talking to real customers, who are usually Toyota fans by the time they leave the VLC, is a real motivation for the team. We get to meet the people we are doing it for! Our team can be really proud of what they accomplish each day.”
