The tour began with the screening of a presentation titled “Toyota and the Environment” which gives an overview of the company’s environmentally friendly manufacturing methods. The children were also introduced to the solar energy system which is used at TMMT to power the streetlights on the site. The tour then visited the plant’s environmental facilities including the biological water treatment plant and fish pond.
This was the first time TMMT has organised a tour specifically for children. The reactions from both teachers and students were very positive with many saying that other children should be given the opportunity to take the tour. TMMT will organise the next tour in September and it is likely there will be more in the future.
