TMMP Names Safe Driver 2009

The car park at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) was transformed into a race track on 26 July for the finals of the 2009 Safe Driver competition. Twenty-five participants took to the track to demonstrate their skills in various tests including an obstacle course, driving in a skid, and eco-driving. Drivers included TMMP staff and residents of the local town, Walbrzych, who were selected during sessions held by the Walbrzych Safe Driving Academy. The title of Safe Driver 2009 was awarded to a member of TMMP’s Quality Control Department, Dariusz Trembowski.

The Safe Driver campaign is organised by TMMP and the Walbrzych Safe Driving Academy. A number of training sessions were held to educate TMMP staff and local residents in ecological and safe driving. “During the sessions, participants are trained how to drive in real road conditions. They get to know their weak points and learn how to improve their skills,” said Piotr Starczukowski, the main trainer for the event. Approximately 150 people took part in the training in 2009.
