The tenth annual Buitenbeenpop outdoor music festival for people with disabilities was held in the town of Leopoldsburg, Belgium on 28 August 2009. The festival provides disabled people with the chance to listen to and create music in a supportive environment. All festival preparations take into account the needs of the disabled visitor. Specially adapted trains are provided to get them to the event, while wheelchair paths, places to rest and special toilet facilities ensure the visitors enjoy the day out. More than 4,500 visitors attended the Buitenbeenpop festival this year, up from around 3,500 people in 2008.

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) employees supported the project by volunteering to drive visitors to and from the local train station and helping out at the festival site. They were joined by around 250 other volunteers from the local community and the Belgian military which owns the land where the festival is held. TME also provided a small financial contribution to defray the festival’s costs.
