Bird’s eye view 

The youngsters of Riddings Infant and Nursery School will have a birds eye view of what’s happening in their playground thanks to a grant from Toyota Manufacturing UK Charitable Trust.

The school contacted Toyota in the hope that they would support with funding to purchase the equipment to enhance the teaching methods of wildlife and environment appreciation at the school.

In response to their request, the Charitable Trust donated £1,000 which enabled them to purchase a variety of items to support the schools ECO approach, a bird cam, bird tables and feeders, raised beds and compost bins.

The school playground has an extensive number of trees and, wildlife regularly visits the school. The equipment allows the children to ‘get up close’ with nature. They can now watch birds feeding together with their nesting habits. They have recently been watching Bluetits nesting. The equipment has added another dimension to the schools method of learning which the children are enjoying.
