The Toyota Technology Challenge National Final – "Let's get racing"

The Toyota Technology Challenge, a national school-based challenge, encourages pupils to design, build and race environmentally friendly vehicles made from recycled materials. Developed by Toyota Manufacturing UK in partnership with Rapid Electronics, the Challenge is aimed at Key Stage 3 & 4 (aged 11 – 16) design technology or ICT students. Designed to be fun and affordable, the two Challenge categories, solar power and PIC microcontroller, aim to stimulate pupils to consider options in engineering and manufacturing.

From the 330 registrations, 50 teams reached the regional finals which took place during March 2011. Eleven of those teams have now made it into the National Final which takes place at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing site at Burnaston on the 21st May 2011

Regional winners will compete with each other in showcasing their vehicles in the ‘Solar’ and ‘Pic’ categories. The winning team from each category will win £750 for their school, in addition to the £250 already received as Regional Final winners, along with an action packed adventure holiday in Spain.

Our best wishes are extended to all of the teams competing
