On 21 December, TMMT launched its 2011 Eco-tour programme. This year, over 1,200 students from Grade 5 schools in the Serdivan district will take part in the tour. The Eco-tours started in 2010, but the programme will be expanded in 2011 thanks to the involvement of TMMT’s environmental volunteers.
During the Eco-tour, students receive general information about the environment and an introduction to the flora and fauna in the local area. The children also take part in a waste segregation game to learn more about the importance of recycling. Each team taking part in the game receives a gift of three pine trees which they can plant in their local school area.
