The tree planting was undertaken by nine to eleven year-old students at the school with the help of their teachers. More than fifty trees were planted during the day, helping to raise the children’s awareness of environmental issues. The students have promised to take good care of the new saplings and to plant more trees in the future.
This is the second year that a tree planting has been held as part of Green Month. In 2008, fifteen trees were planted. TLST hopes to expand the activity to more of Toyota’s logistics partners in 2010. For this year’s activity, TLST worked with the TEMA Foundation, a local NGO which undertakes activities to reduce soil erosion, desertification and other environmental problems.
