As part of the 4th "Environment & Innovation" International competition supported by Toyota Fund for Europe, Toyota Latvia has started providing the grants to the best proposed environmental projects from schools in Latvia.
The "Environment & Innovation" competition has the theme "Don't waste the waste", and it is encouraging Eco-Schools to write innovative proposals on how they will reduce waste on their schools.
As part of the partnership, Toyota retailers have provided insights to schools on how Toyota tries to reduce it's environmental impact on our activities.
The aim of the competition is to encourage innovative thinking for young students on how to solve environmental problems in their neighborhood.
During 2010-2011 schools in Latvia, Slovenia, Turkey and Denmark are competing for the most innovative idea implemented. The winners of each country will be selected in early 2012.
Ideas so far have included creating own biodegradable plastics, a rotary machine intended for composting using solar panels and setting up a scheme to trade-in collected used batteries from students for recycled paper for the school.
