Toyota Solidária helps children with cancer

Toyota Caetano Portugal, Toyota’s Portuguese distributor, has just begun its second Toyota Solidária campaign to aid Acreditar, a local charity that helps children with cancer. Acreditar, provides assistance to children and their families to help overcome the various problems that arise after diagnosis and during treatment. The organisation relies on the support of their members and friends, the work of volunteers and a small administrative staff that manages the organisation’s activities. In 2007, Toyota Caetano ran the Toyota Solidária campaign for the first time. That campaign provided assistance to Liga contra o Cancro, a Portuguese NGO that supports initiatives to fight cancer.

For two months, beginning in October, Toyota Caetano will donate a percentage of the sales of its spare parts and accessories to a fund. The money gathered will be used to provide Acreditar with a brand new Toyota Hiace van to help them with their work. During the campaign, Toyota Caetano will also organise workshops to inform their staff and clients how they can increase their involvement with Acreditar and help with initiatives to fight cancer. This year the company will also gather new books and toys which will be offered to the children of Acreditar at Christmas.
