Testimonial
When I look back over seven years of Toyota’s presence in the city of Jelcz-Laskowice, the history of our relations can be described as a model example of cooperation between local authorities and commercial partners."
“Every member of our community would agree if I said that we are proud to have Toyota as our neighbour. Projects like the ones undertaken in Miloszyce and Leg only reconfirm this belief.
Kazimierz Putyra, Mayor of the town of Jelcz- Laskowice
Renovated playgrounds opened in Miloszyce and Leg
For years many TMIP employees have been concerned about the poor condition of existing recreational areas for children in the villages of Miloszyce and Leg. A survey of local community needs, performed by TMIP at the beginning of 2009, found that the citizens of the two villages also believed that improving the condition of the playgrounds was one of the most urgent things needed by the communities.
Thanks to support received from the Toyota Fund for Europe (TFfE), Toyota Motor Industries Poland (TIMP) was able to implement a large-scale renovation program of the parks. Existing playground equipment was painted and cleaned, new toys were installed and the general area of the playgrounds was tidied, fenced and new trees and bushes were planted. Most of the work was undertaken by volunteers from TIMP, their families and local residents from Miloszyce and Leg. Sub-contractors were engaged to perform work that could not be undertaken by the volunteers such as installation of the new playground equipment.
Completion of the work in Miloszyce was marked on 29 August with an official opening event in the renovated playground. The playground in Leg was officially opened on 7 November with a similar event. The opening events attracted more than 150 people including TMIP volunteers and their families, local residents, employees from the sub-contractors, local officials from both villages and the Mayor of the town of Jelcz-Laskowice. The Mayor was consulted throughout the project and lent considerable support to the project. Both opening events attracted many children – the direct beneficiaries of the renewed playgrounds.
