1 Toyota, 1 Tree

In 2005 Toyota Caetano Portugal began the “1 Toyota, 1 Tree” campaign which involved planting a tree for every Toyota vehicle sold. The campaign was inspired by a series of devastating fires that destroyed large parts of Portugal’s forests in 2005.

More than 12,300 Toyota vehicles were sold in Portugal during 2009 and an equal number of trees have been planted. The latest event took place in the Celorico da Beira forest which had been badly affected by a fire during the year. Toyota Caetano Portugal and its local Toyota dealer invited a nearby school to help with the planting. Thirty young students, their teachers, and other guests planted around 50 trees in the forest. That brought the total number of trees planted in the Celorico da Beira forest to 9,000.

During 2009, Toyota Caetano Portugal also planted around 3,000 trees in the Sever do Vouga forest with the help of local students. Since 2005, more than 72,000 trees have been planted in Portugal as part of the “1 Toyota, 1 Tree” campaign.
